Ryan Fochtman, Business Development Manager
Where do you live? Boston, MA
How long have you worked at Horizon Beverage?
Four years. I started as a salesperson in the Stealth Division working in the Boston area to service restaurants, bars, and other on-premise customers then transitioned to my current role in our Strategic and National Accounts division.
Why did you choose to work at Horizon Beverage?
Horizon appealed to me because of their strong presence in the market, the quality brands we get to represent, the opportunity to work with a family owned company that values their employees, and the excellent opportunities for growth and development.
What do you like about working here?
I enjoy working with different customers in various phases of their growth, whether it be a first restaurant or bar, or expanding a restaurant group. It’s very exciting to be a part of the growth and development of our Massachusetts restaurant industry and support it as it works towards recovering from the COVID-19 restaurant shutdown.
What does your day-to-day job look like?
My role focuses on new business development for bar and restaurant openings in our Massachusetts on-premise market. I work with customers as they’re opening up their restaurants and bars, including setting up their accounts, getting them situated with suppliers, and salesperson support. I also help to develop their menu programs, cocktail programs, wine lists, pricing, and overall support.
Internally, I work on developing programs and materials that help streamline the support our sales team can provide to our on-premise partners. Examples of this include the First Look Book, the COVID-19 Operating Guide, the QR Code/Digital Menu Services Guide, and the Cocktails To-Go/Patio Services Guide. My favorite part of my role is watching the restaurants that we work with have a successful opening and become strong Horizon Beverage partners while doing what they love and serving their communities.
What’s your personal goal at Horizon?
My goal is to continue to grow the business development division and widen the scope of support that we provide to our customers. It’s important to me that we continue to expand the resources available to our customers and continue to find ways to support them during this challenging operating time.
