Our Favorite Red Wine Season is Here
The leaves are falling and the cooling night air is perfect for swirling a silky glass of red wine. Whether you’re having a fall gathering with friends and family or enjoying a nice meal, the red blend category is always a great choice!
Historically, grapes have been blended for centuries; however, in the past 5-8 years America’s pallet has kicked into historic gear for these versatile and often times value driven wines.
It’s important to remember that not all blends are created equal, so make sure you pay attention to the “assemblage de cépages” (the French term for “blend of grapes”) typically provided on the back label…but not always.
We have so many wonderful blends to offer, but we focused on some of our domestic selections for you to read about and hopefully enjoy during our favorite red wine season!
Cheers!

RED BLEND SELECTIONS

Cupcake Black Forest Red Blend, California
Cupcake Wine's Black Forest is a dark, decadent red blend crafted with luscious grapes along California’s desirable coastal vineyards. Dripping with rich flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and coffee, this wine offers a lush mouthfeel and a long, intricate finish. Pair with braised beef short ribs, an indulgent chocolate treat or as the perfect accompaniment to a night under the stars.

Pendulum Red Blend, Columbia Valley, Washington
An ideal expression of this leading varietal from Washington's Columbia Valley, Pendulum Red Blend is artfully crafted to achieve a complex and worldly wine of exceptional quality and outstanding value. Just as a the pendulum of a clock reflects balance and precision, Pendulum Red Blend represents an elegant wine balanced to perfection.
Tasting Notes: Sweet black cherry and toasted oak aromatics introduce flavors of Santa Rosa plum, clove and raspberry. Flawlessly balanced, a long finish chocolate cake and berry jam rounds out the palate. This umami-evoking wine will pair well with nearly any food, but it also makes the perfect standalone, pre-dinner sipper.

The Prisoner Red Blend, Napa Valley
The Prisoner was inspired by the “mixed blacks” first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley. The Prisoner is now the most recognized Napa Valley red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. This wine features enticing aromas of Bing cherry, dark chocolate, clove, and roasted fig. Persistent flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish.
